About the Artist

You'd think writing an 'About Me' section would be simple and straight-forward, wouldn't you? But then, making things 'simple and straight-forward' has never been my forté. Thus, it took about an hour of research into others' websites and what they'd displayed, another hour of deep and complicated thought on the subject, a night and day of mulling further in the back of my mind, and finally an exasperated groan of "Just write the blasted thing, already!" ... yes, that does tend to be my method...

The name behind the words...? All the official parties know me as Angela, but most acquaintances call me 'Angie'. Any other nicknames or petnames are a bit better suited to a restricted audience. For the exceptionally curious, I am in my twenties. For the exceptionally curious who also find horoscopes interesting, I was born a Leo. I hope you'll forgive me for not putting much value on that fact, but ... hey, it's still fun to be able to say that you're a mighty lion-type person, right?

Perhaps most interestingly considering the content of this site, I'm actually a mechanical engineer by schooling. I have a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an east-coast 'Institute', and I have been known to use it on a daily basis from about 8am to 4pm. My art and writing get to fill whatever time is left over after that, the cat and dog, and any attention requirements from my husband. No, we don't have any children at this time. (Thankfully! When would I ever find time for art then?)

I'm sure there is the scant chance that there's more of interest about me, but the only way to find out from here is to go to the Contact page and send me an email. I'll always do my best to answer questions, but keep in mind that privacy is a good thing, sometimes, too.

Thanks,
Angie

About the WebMaster

To be fair, I absolutely have to mention the true genius behind Lucent, my husband. Although the art and layout are mine, Aaron did all the real work of coding pages, finding open source software to power the gallery and news updates, fixing, editting, and generally cajoling something lovely from the mess that is HTML. He may tend to get a bit grumpy during the process (I'll admit, it can be a frustrating practice trying to get HTML and PHP and Java all to work together and with the many different browsers out there!), but I certainly can't fault the results he got.

If you see anything you like or want to talk webdesign with him, feel free to email the WebMaster. He may be from England, but he is semi-literate, so you should get a comprehensible response.

Copyright Information

Ahhh... the infamous issue of copyright. Please, if you care nothing about anything else that I mention in this site, give a few minutes of thought to this. We're talking about some very important and fundamental rights...

All of the graphics, artworks, stories, poetry, and random rants on this site are someone's intellectual property, meaning that they, as an individual's creative works, belong completely and utterly to the person who created them. In most cases on Lucent, that person is me. In places where that is not the case, you will find that I will not only have the written permission of the true owner but also that their work will be quite clearly credited. This is the only way in which it is legal for me to display work that is not my own and that I have not paid contracted fees for.

I ask the same courtesy of every visitor to this site. I'm quite a reasonable person, so chances are good that I will grant you permission to use my work if you are polite enough to ask me. Simply send me an email or speak with me through any other method mentioned on my Contact page. If anyone fails to do me this courtesy, please be aware that you are insulting me and stealing my work. There are avenues for any creator to take action against those who use their work without authorization, not the least of which is to get you and your site banned from your ISP. It's not a threat, and I would be sincerely upset if any situation went that far, but just as you should know my rights, you should also know the methods by which I can enforce them.

The moral of the story is this: If you wish to link, borrow, or house any of my material on your site, you must have my written permission.

I truly appreciate your consideration on this issue. If you'd like more information on copyright laws, please consult The Copyright Files or the US Copyright Office.
