"Keepsakes and Complements"
A new addition graces the Digital Art gallery. Say 'hi' to "Keepsakes and Complements", an image inspired by World of Warcraft. Glowy goodness and purple elves! What more could you want? :)

Lucent, June 30, 2006 - 06:38:22 PM
Guido!
Guido the Fedora-wearing Guinea Pig Bodyguard is the newest addition to the sketchbook. He belongs to Peredhil, but I just may have to steal him for a cuddle or two. Cute!

Not-concrete Update
  Current projects:

* Points of Convergence
* Duality - rewrite
* "Cycle" - the short story that needs a new title
* "Echo" - short story (tentative title)

+ PoC splash page (inked, needs colors)
+ Hopeslast - World of Warcraft Dwarf hunter character portrait (commission)
+ Myleia, Ob, Axus, Rhese, Neelie, Quaed - character portraits for the PoC crew (sketches, need inks and colors)

So much to do, and so little time! Fear not, though. I'll share whatever I can when they reach the appropriate state of polish. :)

Virgo: One Little Kiss
'Virgo: One Little Kiss' is the latest addition to my Digital Art gallery. I was especially pleased with the lineart in this one, and at the least, I feel like I pushed my envelope a little bit with the colors and shading.

Perhaps it's worthy of a golf clap...? <:}

Fanart
Let's just not discuss how long it's been, okay? ...

Instead, go look at the angsty fanart that I created for the Lady of Earthsong. It kinda looks like him... sorta?

Priest
Hm. I haven't gotten around to updating the writing section, yet (sorry), but I do have a juicy picture-update for you.

Please check out 'Points of Convergence - Priest' a concept/fan/practice painting I've made for an illustrated story of the same name that I'm in the middle of writing. I'm really pleased with how it came out, and I hope you'll like it, too. :)

Thanks!

You haven't done anything?!
Well, that's not quite true, though it wouldn't be too far from the truth to say that I haven't done anything I'm terribly proud of in a while. My writing and art muses were pretty dead for a while, and that combined with the Summer of Visitors made me less than ideally productive. Still... I will be putting up a few new poems and story-tidbits.

In the meantime, I guess you can grimace over a nightelven face, a mouse-drawn oekaki chibi, and a Work-In-Progress or two.

Bah. Like I said... nothing I'm terribly proud of, yet. (Though the WIPs should be nice, once they're done. :) )

Catching back up...
Two new images in the Gallery. Check them out! I'm so pleased with them both.

A Boatload of New Stuff!
4 new poems on the Lyrical Paths.
8 new short stories on the Mythical Paths.
1 new image in the Gallery.

As you can see, I've been a busy little me. I didn't even realize I'd amassed such a collection of written stuff that hadn't made it to Lucent! Oooiii...

'Swim the Pitch-Black Sea'
Another painting so soon?! I know it's hard to believe, but it's true. I've just finished 'Swim the Pitch-Black Sea' and put it in the Digital Gallery. It's a scanned sketch that I colored in Photoshop. Feel free to check it out.

'To Rule In Hell'
It took far too long, but my newest all-digital painting is finally done and ready for viewing. Please take a look at 'To Rule In Hell' in the Digital Gallery.
I hope you enjoy it!

3 New Poems
I've updated the Lyrical Paths with my newest poems. Look for 'Frantic', 'Melody' and 'Arrow' in the Writing Section. I hope you enjoy them.

You're doing what? For who?
Okay, in a dream world, there'd be someone out there who's noticed that it's been a little quiet around Lucent, lately. If said person existed, s/he might be interested to know what's going on and why...

I haven't had much time for my own writing or art, lately, as I'm now working freelance as a story writer for a new E-zine. Keep It Coming is a website that offers subscriptions to serialized fiction stories, offering your choice from over 40 different tales in any of 7 genres. It's certainly a unique venture, and thus far has turned out to be educational for me, personally, and very rewarding. I've been busily writing up my own part of that effort, the Fantasy epic called Duality.

The site has all the details, including handy little buttons that you can press to get yourself a free first issue of any story that your little heart desires.

So, there's the main reason why my random production has slowed down... for that imaginary person out there who noticed.

'Step Outside Reality'
Another Pen character has arrived. 'Step Outside Reality' is waiting in the Sketchbook section of the gallery to show you the point-eared planewalker, Valdar.

New story - 'The Embrace'
There's another landmark on the mythical paths. Check out a chilling little Vampire: the Masquerade (tm) inspired vignette that I unimaginatively named 'The Embrace'. Gee, whatever could it be about?

Lucent, September 28, 2003 - 01:59:16 AM
'Containment' joins the gallery
Check out my newest painting, 'Containment' in the Digital Art section of the gallery. It's a digitally-colored sketch, and it's... sort of sci-fi? Do I do that?! Apparently so. I hope you'll enjoy it.

'Tattered'
Hey, a new artwork is up! Please check a tearful 'Tattered' in the Digital Art Gallery. I hope you like her as much as I do.

Lucent, July 25, 2003 - 05:03:25 PM
'Peek Sweetie'
I'm not sure they come much cuter than the 'Peek Sweetie'! I just fell in love with her as she was taking form on my screen. If you think you can take the cuteness, check out my newest digital sketch in the Gallery.

Fun with Pencils!
Two new art pieces from me at the same time is just unheard of! Nevertheless, you're about to get ponged with a double-header. Hell must be freezing over.

I've posted up the quick-sketch 'Tasty' as well as the next in the series of Pen character sketches, 'William Azunost'. Please, check them out in the Gallery!

I turned off the comment function there, by the way, but that doesn't mean I don't love feedback! Feel free to pop me an email telling me what you think. Thanks!

'Casting Runes'
A new digital painting is here! I learned a lot on this one, and had a ton of fun. Please check the Gallery for 'Casting Runes'.

Lucent, June 12, 2003 - 12:00:53 PM
'Blade Dance'
I've completed another digital painting, finally. It's been in-work for quite a while, now, and was a hand sketch scanned and colored in Photoshop. Please look for 'Blade Dance' in the Digital Gallery.

Let the Popping Commence!
Through the joys of PHP and the vast resources of the internet, the gallery images now pop into their own window to free those capable of higher resolutions from the 800 x 600 site layout. I hope that will make the gallery a bit more pleasant to view.

Lucent, May 2, 2003 - 12:14:43 PM
A new destination on the Paths
'Darkness Rising', a collaborative story between myself and two friends, is now complete and waiting on the Companionable paths. It's approximately 16,000 words long, telling a tale of nightmares and weavings from the lives of Yui-chan and Aegon.

I hope you'll enjoy it, as it's a special favorite of mine.

Lucent, April 10, 2003 - 08:25:54 PM
'Speak Softly and Carry a Big Pointy Stick'
Another of the Pen character sketches has wandered into my gallery. Please, take a look at '... Stick' and let me know what you think.

Walking the Paths again...
The Mythical Paths are now complete, so please feel free to take a look at my body of prose work. Also, I'm always getting hit by my Muse, so keep an eye out for updates and additions.

Lucent, April 4, 2003 - 03:13:03 PM
'He Never Broke a Promise'
I've written a new little short story. Check the Mythical Paths to find 'He Never Broke a Promise'.

Thanks!

Walking more paths...
The Paths are slightly more traveled. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean that you'll find much more content, only more information. The unlinked titles are just waiting for their stories to be gathered up and set on the Path with them...

Lucent, March 26, 2003 - 12:13:10 PM
New Sketchwork
'Archaneus' has found his way into my Sketchbook. Be sure to let me know what you think!

Lucent, March 17, 2003 - 11:32:26 PM
Walking paths...
The Lyrical Paths have now been traveled and mark the first content in the Writing section. Be patient with me, and I'll keep slowly gathering in all my scattered work to fill the rest.

Lucent, March 15, 2003 - 06:47:04 AM
90% Complete!
After a long session of sitework... all the basic content is now in place and functioning with the exception of the writing section. You won't find anything there, yet, but you will find all the right place markers. It's now safe to browse through anything you like in the site without significant risk of running into 404s or red x's. Please do drop me a line if you find any errors.

Also, as a heads-up... please don't be too bothered by the size of some of the works in the art gallery. As soon as we (okay, 'he') can get some more time, gallery images will be coded to pop up in their own windows instead of trying to crowd into our little 800 x 600 layout. Sorry for the annoyance in the meantime!

Lucent, March 13, 2003 - 04:10:08 AM
It's temporary! Really!
Please, no laughing at the ghey titles in the Lucent pages, okay? They were just quick and dumb. Really. They'll be much less cheesy in the final version...

... if you're lucky. *evil grin*

The Pre-launch Launch...
The site... the wonderful site is up and running! *happy smile* It's not finished, mind, not quite complete, but it's here, it's pretty, and the rest of the content is pushing towards completion.

The purpose...? Well, it's partly for the practice, partly to satisfy my rather vain desire for a 'proper artist's gallery of my own', and partly with an eye towards someday accepting writing and/or art commissions. In a few years, maybe Lucent Illustrations will have a cute little 'Inc.' tacked on the end of it.

... man, talk about pressure to stop sucking at art. Meep!

Well, avoid the broken links by sticking to the News and Gallery. Within those limits... Have fun! Enjoy! Leave feedback!
